iWatch and Business work flow. Are you getting an iWatch for business?

The countdown is on for the new iWatch from Apple which will be available worldwide on April 24, 2015.
What is an iWatch you ask?  An iWatch is an extension to your iPhone - in basic terms, you will be wearing your iPhone on your wrist.  Sounds awesome to us.
At OMLpatches.com, we will be using the iWatches to test them out.  We will be able to take phone calls and answer emails from anywhere in our office or workshop.  We are hoping to create a better and faster workflow within our company.    We will be making our customer service more accessible and hope to generate faster responses to any questions that you may have!
Which watch to get?  Well, obviously the 18 carrot gold plated iWatch Edition is out of the question for most people, and it is going to be hard to find, thats for sure.  Most people will also consider the price of the watch - more than $10,000 is a bit steep for the average Joe.   It looks great, but its a bit expensive to spend that kind of money on something new - we don't really know how well the iWatch is going to work.  I think I would buy a car or an embroidery machine instead.  So thats a big NO to IWatch Edition for most people.
IWatch Edition
The next one down is the IWatch - just the Iwatch.  Looks like this one is going for $600-$1,000 for the larger watch.  That may also be a bit too expensive for the average person.  I like the look of the watch and you can get some cool bands to go with it, but it sure seems a bit expensive to start out with.  We are hoping that Apple will allow you to buy some of the bands at a later date - but it seems that they will be around $200.00 for some of the bands.  This might be too much of an expense.
IWatch for Business - the middle level price range
So now we get down to the one that OMLpatches.com is going to get - the Iwatch Sport.  They have 4 colors of bands that you can get with this watch - nothing fancy, but I am guessing that they will last.  You can get a bright blue, white, a pink (well its not really pink, more of a salmon color) and a lime green.  The watch itself is the same as the Iwatch, the same functionality, so it simply comes down to the watch bands and the price.  The iWatch sport is going for $350.00 and closer to $400.00 for the larger men's version.   Yes, there are two sizes of the watch for each version -  a larger mens watch and a smaller women's watch.  We are going to be getting the larger one, mainly for more screen view.
We will probably get a bright color band, just for the fun of it.  Pink isn't really a tactical color, but neither is lime green - so we can throw out the idea of the watch being tactical, unless you get the black and space grey version.  Subdued, but still fun.
We will be field testing the watches to see how they last during normal use, testing the batteries and testing the watch and the band for scratches and issues during normal daily wear.  If they pass all those tests, we will be testing them further to see how they hold up during more difficult situations, and tougher wear and tear.
In any event, we are hoping that the Apple iWatches hold up to our busy workday and they should come in handy for communication.   We will explore this idea in the next blog - "how can iWatches help business workflow".
Let us know if you are thinking of getting an iWatch, and if not, why you aren't getting one.
